505 got degrees at JSMU convocation

Degrees were conferred upon 505 graduates from bachelor's and master's programmes for the academic year 2023 - 2024

KARACHI:

The Jinnah Sindh Medical University (JSMU) held its sixth convocation on Saturday at a prestigious venue. Degrees were conferred upon 505 graduates from bachelor's and master's programmes for the academic year 2023 - 2024. This year marked a historic milestone as JSMU awarded degrees to the inaugural batch of Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) graduates.

In addition to DPT, the convocation celebrated the accomplishments of graduates from MBBS, BDS, Pharm D, BSN, BBA (Hons), BBA HCM, and BS Public Health programmes, as well as master's programmes, including Master of Science in Public Health (MSPH) and Master of Health Professions Education (MHPE).

JSMU Vice Chancellor Prof Amjad Siraj Memon announced the graduation of the first DPT batch and the start of PhD programmes. He highlighted the induction of 100+ clinical faculty at Jinnah Hospital and the inauguration of the first Vascular Surgery Unit by Health Minister Dr Azra Pechuho. He also acknowledged the operationalisation of Valika and Landhi campuses, fee waivers for Palestinian students, and the admission of 25 more students, urging graduates to uphold honesty and dedication in their professions.

At JSMU's sixth convocation, graduates were honoured for their exceptional achievements. Dr Muhammad Aizaz Ur Rehman (MBBS) and Dr Ameera Omar (BDS) earned best graduate titles, with Dr Ameera receiving three medals. Other best graduates included Dr Areeba Khan (Pharm D), Huraira Ahmed (BSN), Dr Hira Naveed (DPT), Adeeba Shah (BBA-HCM), Fabiha Afzal (BBA), Neha (BSPH), and Dr Kiran Fatima (MSPH). A total of 19 gold, seven silver, and five bronze medals were awarded to top position holders.
