The Rawalpindi District Bar Association and the Kachehri Police Chowki have raised fingers over the poor state of security affairs at the district courts, declaring that the entire security system of the district courts is completely inadequate, outdated, impractical and has become a security risk for lawyers, judges, and complainants.
The representatives of the bar association and policemen have demanded in writing to the Rawalpindi Deputy Commissioner's office to upgrade the courts' security system with immediate replacement of walk-through gates and closed-circuit television (CCTV) cameras.
It is mentioned in the written correspondence that all four walk-through gates installed in the district courts are out of order and 55 CCTVs out of 77 are completely damaged. The footage of the rest CCTVs is unrecognisable. Most of the cameras have changed their orientation due to wind.
The UPS batteries of walk-through gates and CCTVs are also dysfunctional. If the power goes out, CCTVs get jammed. Power outages are a daily occurrence in the district courts.
There is no arrangement for searching female litigants entering the courts as they are searched openly in front of everyone.
The court is completely at risk of compromised security. Every day quarrels are becoming the norm due to the poor security system.
