Owl House creator Dana Terrace unveils sci-fi series Knights of Guinevere

Dana Terrace teams with Glitch Productions for Knights of Guinevere, a sci-fi thriller with Owl House writers.

Dana Terrace, creator of The Owl House, is collaborating with Glitch Productions on a new animated series titled Knights of Guinevere. The series, a sci-fi psychological thriller, is co-developed with former Owl House writers John Bailey Owen and Zach Marcus.

The first teaser for Knights of Guinevere features a striking contrast between a serene fairytale setting and a dystopian sci-fi laboratory. The teaser begins with a peaceful image of a sleeping woman, which abruptly transitions to a robotic figure spasming on an examination table in a sterile, futuristic room. The eerie tone and rapid shifts between environments hint at a complex and unsettling narrative.

Glitch Productions, an Australian animation studio, is known for its viral hit The Amazing Digital Circus. The studio's first 2D animated series, Knights of Guinevere, marks a new direction for the company, which has a reputation for creating quirky, teen- and young adult-focused shows. The Amazing Digital Circus gained massive popularity after its pilot premiered on YouTube in 2023, later transitioning to Netflix in 2024.

Terrace’s move to Glitch Productions comes after her departure from Disney, where The Owl House faced significant challenges. The show ended with a truncated third season due to Disney executives deeming its serialized storytelling and older-skewing audience inconsistent with the company's brand. In a Reddit AMA, Terrace expressed frustration with the decision but remained optimistic about her future projects.

Fans eagerly await Knights of Guinevere, which promises to blend Terrace's distinctive storytelling style with Glitch Productions’ innovative animation. While a release date has not yet been announced, the studio has hinted that the pilot episode may debut later in 2025.
