Singer Jawad Ahmed booked for power theft, assault
A case has been registered against singer Jawad Ahmed and four unidentified accomplices at Nawab Town police station on charges of power theft, assault and obstructing official duties.
The FIR was lodged on the complaint of Lesco SDO Muhammad Asghar.
A Lesco team conducted a routine inspection at a beauty parlour owned by Jawad Ahmed's wife, Mehreen.
During the raid, it was discovered that the electricity meter had a phase intentionally disabled to reduce consumption.
During the operation, Jawad Ahmed allegedly arrived at the scene in a black vehicle with his accomplices and confronted the Lesco officials.
The complaint alleges that the singer, along with his associates, forcibly snatched the electricity meter and handed it over to one of his accomplices, Adeel, who disappeared into the parlour with it.
Sources claimed that the tampered meter caused financial losses amounting to millions of rupees to the electricity department.
Additionally, two Lesco employees sustained injuries during the altercation and were shifted to the hospital for medical treatment.
The FIR further states that Jawad Ahmed allegedly attempted to run over the Lesco employees with his vehicle, escalating the severity of the incident. Police have registered a case against the accused under sections pertaining to power theft, assault, and hindrance in official duties.
Investigations are underway to determine the facts surrounding the case.
