Children's content creator, Ms. Rachel brings multimillion dollar empire to Netflix
Rachel Accurso, popularly known as Ms. Rachel has amassed a wide audience of children and parents worth several million dollars. In a bid to expand her reach, the beloved content creator has signed a deal with Netflix for a four-episode series that releases on January 27.
With each episode being between 30-60 minutes long, the show will feature compilations of the Accurso's lessons on shapes, letters, colour, numbers and more. Additonally, although the show itself will be in English, it will also have subtitles available for 33 other languages. Later on in the year, more episodes are expected to be released.
Through content creators like Ms. Rachel, Netflix aims to tap into a new pool of viewers, as streaming companies have had a tough time captivating young audiences. YouTube has for the longest time been the primary competitor as the platform’s content format is more appealing to children’s short attention spans.
One of Netflix’s most popular children's shows, CoComelon, which broke records at the streaming service by holding a spot in the “Top 10” for 62 days, started as a YouTube series.
