Eagles fan claims Packers supporter provoked him before viral outburst during playoff game
A Philadelphia Eagles fan who was filmed verbally attacking a Green Bay Packers supporter at a playoff game has broken his silence.
Ryan Caldwell, seen in the viral video calling a Packers fan a "dumb c*nt" at Sunday's game at Lincoln Financial Field, claims his outburst was provoked.
What it's like going to Philly just trying to root for your team...
Unprovoked, uncalled for. Packers twitter, help me out and find this guy.... this is not okay
I hate that my fiancé had this happen simply cheering for her team pic.twitter.com/aiHCKzxrSS— Alexander Basara (@Basaraski) January 13, 2025
In a statement to the New York Post, Caldwell explained that the video did not capture the full context of the situation, stating that what preceded his rant was "banter" between the individuals involved. He implied that Alexander Basara and his fiancée, Ally Keller, encouraged his behavior.
Despite defending his actions as provoked, Caldwell admitted his behavior was "unacceptable" and issued a public apology to Keller, his wife, family, friends, and various groups offended by his words.
Caldwell also confirmed that he has lost his job and has been banned from attending future events at Lincoln Financial Field. Basara, meanwhile, has remained mostly silent since the incident.
