Palestinian social media users react to Gaza ceasefire deal
Qatar and the United States have announced a phased truce between Hamas and Israel, bringing a temporary halt to the 15-month-long, Israeli war on Gaza.
The first phase of the ceasefire, set to begin on January 19, includes provisions for Israeli forces to withdraw from populated areas in Gaza, enabling displaced Palestinians to return to their homes. Additionally, hundreds of aid trucks are expected to be allowed into the territory each day.
While many in Gaza have expressed joy and relief at the deal, there is also a sense of sadness and concern as they mourn the loss of loved ones and face the daunting task of rebuilding after over a year of widespread devastation. Some Palestinians took to social media to express their mixed emotions.
