BAFTA Film Awards 2025 nominations: 'Conclave' and 'Emilia Perez' lead with most nods

This year's BAFTA nominations give a nod to notable films including 'Wicked', 'Dune: Part 2', 'Anora' and 'Kneecap'.

The 2025 BAFTA nominations announcement on Wednesday featured notable films, along with a few surprises and snubs. The awards ceremony will be held on February 16, 2025 at London's Royal Festival Hall.

While Hollywood continues to grapple with the devastation of the Los Angeles wildfires since last week, with some organisations like the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences and Producer Guild of America postponing their announcements, the British Academy of Film and Television Arts Awards decided to move ahead with the announcement of this year's nominees.

While Edward Berger's Conclave led with 12 nominations, Jacques Audiard's Emelia Perez followed closely wth 11 nods.

Other remarkable films like The Brutalist got nominated in 9 categories while Anora, Wicked, Dune: Part 2, A Complete Unknown and Kneecap secured 7 nominations each.

In the top six categories, critics consider Wicked's Jon M. Chu to be snubbed for Best Director as well as Daniel Craig, who earned a SAG Award nomination for his leading role in Queer but went without a nod in BAFTA's Best Leading Actor category.

Meanwhile the biggest surprises included Selena Gomez, Clarence Macklin and Guy Pearce who got a nod at the BAFTAs after missing out on SAG nominations.
