Timothée Chalamet fined for Lime bike misstep at 'A Complete Unknown premiere'
Timothée Chalamet, known for his bold choices on and off the screen, made headlines for arriving at the London premiere of A Complete Unknown on a Lime bike.
The 28-year-old actor opted for the eco-friendly mode of transportation to bypass a traffic jam but faced an unexpected fine of £65 (approximately $79) for not parking the bike correctly.
Chalamet revealed the mishap during an appearance on the French talk show Quotidien while promoting the James Mangold-directed biopic. “It was horrible because it was actually kind of an advert for them [Lime],” he joked, referencing the photos that went viral of him in a navy blue suit atop the bright lime-green bicycle.
Lime bikes are electric bicycles available for rent in major cities. Chalamet’s decision to ride one highlighted his eco-conscious mindset but came with a literal price tag. Despite the fine, the actor made it to the premiere on time and certainly made an impression.
In A Complete Unknown, Chalamet portrays legendary musician Bob Dylan. The film, set in 1961, chronicles a 19-year-old Dylan’s arrival in New York City, his rise to fame, and his interactions with other music legends. Chalamet’s performance has earned critical acclaim, with many predicting an Oscar nomination.
The film is already a strong awards contender, with Chalamet earning a Golden Globe nomination for Best Actor in a Motion Picture – Drama. Although the award ultimately went to Adrien Brody for The Brutalist, Chalamet’s portrayal of Dylan continues to draw praise from critics and audiences alike.
