Govt to fund anti-extremist narrative, says Sharjeel

Content and Production Oversight Board to support new talent, media houses

KARACHI:

The Sindh government has resolved to intensify efforts to promote movies, dramas, and documentaries while encouraging artists and playwrights to raise public awareness, showcase local talent, and develop narratives opposing terrorism and extremism.

According to an official statement, the first meeting of the Content and Production Oversight Board, chaired by Information Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon was held to discuss the promotion of local talent, increasing public awareness, and creating a narrative against extremism.

The decision was made to encourage artists and playwrights in these areas.

Sharjeel Memon announced special measures for new writers and creative production houses, stating that financial assistance would be provided to help them complete their projects.

He reaffirmed the Sindh government's commitment to promoting drama, film, and creative arts to foster democratic values and a healthier society.

He highlighted that the newly established Content and Production Oversight Board aims to drive social development through these initiatives. The meeting was attended by Information Secretary Nadeemur Rehman Memon, DGPR Saleem Khan, board members Qazi Asad Abid, Warda Saleem, and Azan Sami Khan.

Separately, Sharjeel chaired a meeting of the newly-appointed spokespersons of the Sindh government. The meeting discussed strategies for effective publicity of government's narrative, promotion of media relations and public welfare projects.

Senior minister said, "To be a government spokesperson is a huge responsibility.

The government has entrusted you with this responsibility, so that people remain fully aware of the government's projects."

The meeting was attended by Ganhor Khan Isran, Heer Soho, Nadir Nabil Gabol, Sukhdev Asardas Hemnani, Buland Khan Junejo, Seemta Afzal Syed, Syed Tahseen Abidi, Syeda Aqraba Fatima, Mustafa Abdullah Baloch, and Secretary Information Nadeem-ur-Rehman Memon.
