Taylor Swift is extending her $17.75 million Rhode Island mansion in celebration of becoming a billionaire. According to a building permit that the Providence Journal was able to get on Tuesday, contractors intend to add on to the pop star's house on the coast in Westerly's Watch Hill neighbourhood.
Swift's current kitchen will also be renovated, and the new wing will have additional bathrooms and a bedroom. It was not said how many bathrooms would be installed, but the new bedroom will measure roughly 16 by 24 feet. According to the permit granted last month, Swift would have to pay an estimated $1.7 million for the project's labour and supplies.
Known as High Watch or Holiday House, the 11,000-square-foot cliffside estate of the "Cruel Summer" singer is just a short distance from the upscale Ocean House resort and features 700 feet of private beachfront. Situated on 5.23 acres, the contemporary eight-bedroom, 10-bathroom retreat boasts a gorgeous patio, a spanning swimming pool, and well-kept grounds.
The mansion served as the inspiration for her 2020 song "The Last Great American Dynasty," which is about Rebekah Harkness, an American socialite who once called the castle home.
Over the years, Swift's star-studded parties have also been held at the property. Swift's boyfriend Travis Kelce and his Kansas City Chiefs teammate Patrick Mahomes were seen at one of her pool parties on the property last August.
The summer celebration was attended by the Grammy winner's best friends, Blake Lively and Gigi Hadid, as well as their respective spouses, Ryan Reynolds and Bradley Cooper.
