A special commemorative ceremony marking the 12th death anniversary of renowned scholar, researcher, writer, and poet Syed Naseer Shah, who passed away on the evening of December 18, 2012, at the age of 82, was held at the Rescue 1122 Station Conference Hall.
The event was organised by Roshnai (Renaissance of Sharing Noble Ideas) in collaboration with Rescue 1122.
Mianwali lost one of its most illustrious literary and intellectual figures, Syed Naseer Shah, whose life spanned 82 years and was devoted to spreading knowledge and fostering creativity.
Known for his humility and simplicity, Shah Sahib was a beacon of progressiveness and intellectual enlightenment throughout his life.
Syed Naseer Shah was a master of multiple languages, including Seraiki, Punjabi, Urdu, Persian, Arabic and English.
Speaking at the event, Tanveer Khalid, a prominent literary figure and a driving force behind district-wide literary activities, highlighted Syed Naseer Shah's invaluable contributions to the promotion of knowledge and literature in Mianwali.
"He illuminated the district with the light of knowledge and literature and earned recognition in intellectual and literary circles around the world," Khalid said.
"He approached life with progressiveness and reasoning, understanding its nuances deeply. Rising above personal glory, he played a significant role in the advancement of knowledge and literature."
District Emergency Officer Naveed Iqbal announced plans for a Wall of Fame at the Rescue 1122 Station.
"We are working on establishing a Wall of Fame to honour Mianwali's distinguished intellectual and literary personalities, featuring their photographs along with brief introductions," he said.
The event was a heartfelt tribute to Syed Naseer Shah, whose legacy continues to inspire scholars, writers, and poets in Mianwali and beyond.
His extensive knowledge spanned religious, literary, historical, and critical studies, making him a polymath and a towering figure in Mianwali's cultural and intellectual heritage.
He mentored a wide circle of scholars and artists and played a pivotal role in igniting the flame of intellectual and literary movements in the district.
A prolific writer, journalist, poet, critic, and religious scholar, Shah Sahib was a member of Pakistan's Islamic Ideology Council's research panel, where his work on various legal and social issues earned widespread acclaim.
