MATLI:

A widow, Noor Jahan Bhat, staged a protest outside Matli Press Club, accusing her only son of attempting to sell her house after illegally obtaining its documents.

While speaking to reporters, she alleged that her son, Nisar Bhatt, along with his wife and in-laws, was oppressing her and conspiring to take over her property.

Noor Jahan recounted the struggles she endured as a single mother after the death of her husband, Mir Hassan, in 2003.

Mir Hassan, who worked as a watchman at a government hospital, left behind no substantial assets. Despite her hardships, Noor Jahan chose not to remarry, dedicating her life to raising her son.

She explained how she worked as a domestic help, saving Rs65,000 over the years to purchase a small plot and construct a modest house in a low-income housing scheme.

The house, registered in her name, was built through her sheer hard work and sacrifice. All utility bills for the property are also in her name, confirming her ownership.

According to Noor Jahan, her son stole the property documents and is now attempting to sell the house without her consent. She further alleged that Nisar, his wife, and his in-laws are threatening her life.

The widow demanded legal protection from her son and his accomplices.
