Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Governor Faisal Karim Kundi stated that the lack of peace in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa is a failure of the provincial government. He accused the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) of being facilitators of terrorists, claiming that they brought militants into the region. He criticized the provincial government for its inability to open a 25-kilometer road in Kurram due to its incompetence.
Speaking at the Peshawar Press Club, the governor said the postponement of the Al-Qadir case verdict was a judicial decision and not due to negotiations. He emphasised that PTI would not be granted any form of amnesty, despite its leadership reportedly contacting the speaker for negotiations.
Regarding law and order, Governor Kundi highlighted that the chief minister cannot even ensure peace in his own district. He reiterated his claim that PTI facilitated terrorists and mentioned that an All-Party Conference (APC) on law and order was called, but PTI did not attend. Despite this, he and other officials went to the Chief Minister's House for peace talks, the governor highlighted.
The governor appealed to the federal government and the military for intervention in resolving the issues, criticising the provincial government for mismanaging the Rs500 billion allocated to it. He pointed out the lack of facilities for the police, who are fighting against terrorism, and condemned the provincial government for using force against local government employees demanding their rights.
He announced that a convention of local government representatives would be held at the Governor's House and emphasized that the government's failure to maintain peace reflects its incompetence. A technical committee would soon meet with the President and Prime Minister to discuss the province's challenges. The governor also objected to the representation of the Chief Minister in the Apex Committee, questioning how someone with a murder FIR could sit in such a critical forum.
