Leonardo DiCaprio and partner Vittoria Ceretti evacuate LA fires via private jet, sparking backlash

Actor Leonardo DiCaprio and model Vittoria Ceretti were recently seen evacuating from the wildfires that have been ravaging Los Angeles, boarding a private jet to escape the dangerous situation, landing in Mexico. The move, however, has sparked controversy due to DiCaprio’s well-known environmental activism.

DiCaprio, 50, founder of the Leonardo DiCaprio Foundation, is a vocal advocate for climate change awareness and sustainability, and has funded more than $80 million in grants working on climate change and the environment, and has often used his platform to promote eco-friendly initiatives and environmental conservation efforts.

However, his decision to flee the wildfires in a private jet has drawn criticism from some who view it as contradictory to his "climate warrior" persona.

The couple’s private jet departure came amid the California wildfires, which have forced many residents to evacuate and caused widespread destruction. While DiCaprio and Ceretti’s escape was driven by safety concerns, the optics of the situation have raised questions about the environmental impact of private air travel, which is known for contributing significantly to carbon emissions.

The couple, who have reportedly been together since 2023, were also accompanied by DiCaprio's father George DiCaprio and step-mother Peggy Ann Farrar.
