Vawda predicts Imran's conviction in graft case

Says winds are blowing in favour of Pakistan, not PTI

KARACHI:

Senator Faisal Vawda has predicted that former prime minister Imran Khan is going to be convicted in the £190m case, whose judgement is due today.

Vawda, who was once regarded a close aide of Imran and served as his cabinet member, was addressing a press conference at the Karachi Press Club.

According to the senator, he had warned the former PM that the cabinet's decision to allocate the £190m received from a UK agency was going to land him in trouble.

"A crime is supposed to be punished and it will be punished, he [Imran Khan] was compelled to commit that crime," he added.

The disgruntled PTI leader also commented on the ongoing talks between the government and the PTI, describing it as the game of "hide-and-seek".

He criticised the opposition party for now begging for negotiation after striking an aggressive posture towards the government. The senator welcomed the PTI's decision to hold talks with the government but also urged it to enter the dialogue with a good intention.

He advised the PTI supporters not to set great stores by the return of Donald Trump to the White House on January 20, claiming that winds are blowing in favour of the country, not the PTI.

Vawda reiterated his claims that Imran Khan's life was in danger and that danger came from some people very close to him.
