Former Pakistan captain Sarfaraz Ahmed confirmed his departure from Quetta Gladiators ahead of the 10th edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL). The wicketkeeper-batter took to Instagram to share the news, posting a picture with franchise owner Nadeem Omar. In his message, Sarfaraz reflected on his nine-year journey with the team.

"Today I want to tell you that my time with Quetta Gladiators has come to an end and I feel very proud that my journey of 9 years with this amazing team has been wonderful and beautiful," he wrote.

He expressed gratitude to Nadeem Omar, saying, "I want to take this opportunity to thank Nadeem Bhai for giving me the opportunity to play for his team and for providing everything that I needed as a player and captain. I will always remember your support throughout this time."

Sarfraz also wished the team well for the future, adding, "My best wishes will always be with your team," and thanked the management, with special thanks to Azam Bhai.

Having been with the Gladiators since the inception of the PSL, Sarfaraz was released by the franchise earlier this month. This marks his first time entering the players' draft since the inaugural PSL in 2016.

Sarfraz played 86 PSL matches for Quetta, scoring 1,525 runs at an average of 29.32, including seven half-centuries. He led the team to their only PSL title in 2019, captaining the Gladiators for eight seasons before being replaced by South Africa’s Rilee Rossouw in the previous edition.
