PTI negotiation team meets Imran Khan at Adiala jail
Members of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf's (PTI) negotiation team on Sunday held a meeting with the incarcerated former prime minister Imran Khan at Rawalpindi's Adiala jail.
The meeting between the party founder and the negotiation committee lasted for more than two hours.
According to Express News, prior to the committee’s session, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur met one-on-one with the PTI founder. Gandapur arrived at Adiala Jail with full official protocol.
Other attendees at Adiala Jail included Asad Qaiser, Omar Ayub, Allama Raja Nasir Abbas, Sahibzada Hamid Raza, and lawyer Faisal Chaudhry. However, committee members Hamid Khan and Salman Akram Raja did not attend meeting.
Due to Ali Amin Gandapur’s private meeting with Imran Khan, other committee members, including Omar Ayub, Asad Qaiser, Hamid Raza, and Allama Nasir Abbas, were seated in the deputy superintendent’s room.
Before the meeting, Omar Ayub and former NA speaker Asad Qaiser contacted National Assembly Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq via phone. PTI leaders formally requested a meeting between the negotiation committee and the PTI founder.
According to the National Assembly spokesperson, Ayaz Sadiq conveyed this request to the government, clarifying that he only facilitated communication between the two sides.
It is worth noting that two rounds of negotiations between the government and PTI have already taken place, with the third round scheduled for Wednesday.
PTI's Asad Qaiser accuses Maryam Nawaz, Khawaja Asif of sabotaging talks
Earlier, PTI leader Asad Qaiser accused senior government figures Maryam Nawaz and Khawaja Asif of deliberately attempting to derail ongoing negotiations.
In response to recent comments made by the two leaders, Qaiser claimed that their statements were part of an effort to sabotage the dialogue process. "The way Khawaja Asif and Maryam Nawaz are speaking, they are trying to block negotiations by any means possible," he told the media. "Then, they accuse Imran Khan of tweeting."
Qaiser stressed that PTI members had been subjected to injustice, referencing the events of November 26, when party members were allegedly denied their basic rights, and civilians were shot by police.
He also pointed to the military courts' handling of PTI supporters involved in the May 9 incidents, asserting that military trials for civilians were unconstitutional.
