The ongoing cold wave in the city has eased slightly. Different temperatures were recorded at different weather stations on Saturday. The minimum mercury at the government weather station (Old Airport, Pehlawan Goth), was recorded at 12 degrees Celsius, an increase of 2 degrees compared to the previous day.
From January 14 to 20, two consecutive western systems are expected, which could bring rainfall to Balochistan and affect the port city with cooler weather.
The cold wave that has been going on in the city for several days has eased to some extent.
It may be noted that the minimum temperature was recorded at 10 degrees on Friday. Morning fog reduced visibility significantly, dropping it from 6 kilometers to just 2.5 kilometers.
Other weather stations in the city recorded varying temperatures: Jinnah Terminal Airport recorded the lowest at 11 degree Celsius, Sharea Faisal at 12.5 degrees Celsius, Gulistan-e-Jauhar at 13.3 degree Celsius, and the highest morning temperature was recorded at the Mauripur weather station at 14.5 degrees Celsius.
According to Karachi Chief Meteorologist Sardar Sarfaraz, a weak system is set to entre the country through Balochistan starting January 15, potentially leading to a temperature drop. Furthermore, a stronger western system is forecast to affect Balochistan on January 20, which could result in rainfall across Balochistan and northern regions of the country. This system may lead to colder winds and intensify the cold wave towards the end of the month.
However, Sardar Sarfaraz clarified that neither of these systems is expected to bring rain in Karachi.
