ISLAMABAD:

Chinese Ambassador to Pakistan Jiang Zaidong said on Saturday that China's development could not be separated from the world's and that the world's prosperity also needed China.

"Only when the world is good, China will be good, and when China is good, the world will be better. We stand ready to provide new opportunities for the world with the new development of Chinese modernisation and first benefit our iron friend Pakistan," he said while quoting Chinese President Xi Jinping at the launch ceremony of "Embracing the Chinese New Year".

Zaidong said that President Xi maintained close communication with President Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and reached an important consensus on promoting China-Pakistan all-weather strategic cooperation, especially on forging an "upgraded version" of CPEC.

"Premier Li Qiang and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif's mutual visits this year have effectively promoted cooperation between the two countries in various fields," he said, adding last month, Khunjerab-Sost Pass has realised the all-year-round function, becoming a landmark progress in China-Pakistan relations in the new era, and once again demonstrating the deep foundation of the ironclad friendship.

"The Chashma Nuclear Power Plant Unit 5, which can create 40,000 jobs directly and indirectly during the peak period of construction, has officially started, showing the huge potential of practical cooperation between the two countries."

"We stand ready to continue to strengthen the docking of development strategies with Pakistan, deepen mutually beneficial and win-win cooperation, forge an "upgraded version" of the CPEC construction, and accelerate the building of a closer China-Pakistan community of shared future in the new era to better benefit the two countries and their peoples."

The envoy expressed sincere gratitude to President Zardari and PM Shehbaz for writing to President Xi Jinping on the earthquake in Dingri County, Xizang and showing willingness to provide all possible assistance.
