Real-life house that inspired GTA 5’s Michael De Santa residence destroyed in California wildfires
A real-life house in Los Angeles that inspired Michael’s residence in the popular video game 'Grand Theft Auto V' has been destroyed in the ongoing California wildfires.
The house, which served as the model for the De Santa residence in the game, was a prominent landmark for fans of the game. Michael’s house marks a key location in the game’s storyline, serving as the starting point for his character’s journey.
The Palisades Fire, which started on January 7, 2025, has been wreaking havoc across Los Angeles, burning over 20,000 acres of land.
Along with the destruction of the iconic house, the fire also devastated landmarks like the Palisades Charter High School, which has a rich history in pop culture.
The school, which has served as the alma mater for celebrities such as J.J. Abrams and Forest Whitaker, has also been featured in films like 'Freaky Friday' and 'Carrie'. Several other famous landmarks, including the Pasadena synagogue and the Bunny Museum, have also fallen victim to the fires.
The wildfires have claimed at least six lives and prompted mass evacuations. Over 100,000 people have been ordered to evacuate, with more still under warning. Authorities continue to assess the extent of the damage.
