President Zardari summons NA’s 12th session

16th National Assembly set for 12th sitting next week

President Asif Ali Zardari has summoned the 12th session of the 16th National Assembly on Jan. 13, 2025, at 5 pm at the Parliament House.

The session has been called under Article 54(1) of the Constitution, as per the powers vested in the president, Express News reported.

The National Assembly Secretariat confirmed the announcement.

The upcoming session, the National Assembly's first for 2025, is expected to address critical legislative matters and discussions pivotal to national governance. It will mark the 12th sitting of the current assembly.

Government is also expecgted to present different bills in the session for legislation. It would also table routine agenda in this session.

Government-opposition talks will continue during NA session that comes amid the round of negotiatin talks between Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and the government.

However, It seems like PTI's negotiation process with the government is facing multiple hurdles, especially regarding access to Imran Khan. Barrister Gohar Khan and other PTI leaders have consistently emphasised the importance of direct communication with their party founder to finalise any demands or proposals.

The government's hesitation or inability to facilitate such meetings is not only delaying progress but also fueling distrust between the parties.
