SSGC rates rise, SNGPL rates fall

OGRA cuts LNG rates for SNGPL by 2%, raises SSGC prices up to 0.45%

ISLAMABAD:

The Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) on Friday announced adjustments to imported Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) prices for January 2025, increasing rates for Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC) consumers while reducing them for Sui Northern Gas Pipeline Limited (SNGPL) users.

On a month-to-month basis, the price of LNG for SSGC consumers at the transmission stage rose by $0.0468 per mmbtu or 0.44%, climbing from $10.5415 in December to $10.5883 per mmbtu in January. At the distribution stage, the price increased from $12.5456 to $12.6014 per mmbtu, reflecting a rise of 0.45%.

Conversely, for SNGPL consumers, LNG prices decreased at both stages. The transmission stage price dropped by 1.98%, or $0.2371 per mmbtu, moving from $11.9659 in December to $11.7288 in January. At the distribution stage, the price declined from $12.8997 to $12.6667 per mmbtu.

The reduction in Re-Gasified Liquefied Natural Gas (RLNG) prices for SNGPL consumers, both at transmission and distribution stages, is attributed to a decrease in the price differential, which has been factored into the RLNG sale price. On the other hand, the marginal increase in RLNG prices for SSGC stems from a slight rise in the DES price.
