Woman attacked over love marriage

A 20-year-old woman was left critically injured after her father, mother and uncles allegedly attempted to kill her in the name of 'honour' for contracting a love marriage. The incident occurred in the Hanjarwal area of Lahore.

According to police, the victim Shumaila had married a man named Madni of her own choice. This decision, however, enraged her family, who deemed the marriage unacceptable.

On Thursday, Shamaila's uncle, lmtiaz, along with her father Fayyaz, another uncle Saleem, and her mother Musarrat Bibi, conspired to kill her. Imtiaz opened fire at Shamaila, leaving her seriously injured. The police were alerted to the crime and immediately shifted Shumaila to a nearby hospital.
