The Pacific Palisades home where actor Matthew Perry passed away in 2023 faced significant danger during the wildfires devastating Los Angeles. The property, purchased by real estate developer Anita Verma-Lallian for $8.55 million in October 2024, was surrounded by flames as the fires spread across the region according to Realtor.com

Realtor.com reported Verma-Lallian,planned to use the home as a vacation property, had recently returned to Arizona after celebrating New Year’s at the house. She described feeling “helpless” as she watched the fires unfold from afar, relying on security cameras and neighbors for updates. “We saw firefighters putting out flames near our pool, but then we lost service and didn’t know what was happening,” she shared.

Despite the danger, neighbors later confirmed that the house miraculously survived with only minor backyard damage, thanks to the efforts of firefighters. “The community has been amazing and very welcoming,” Verma-Lallian said, expressing gratitude for the neighbors who provided updates and assistance throughout the ordeal.

Verma-Lallian’s experience highlights the widespread devastation caused by the Pacific Palisades Fire, which has already claimed five lives, destroyed over 2,000 structures, and burned more than 17,000 acres, according to Cal Fire. It is one of five major wildfires currently active in Los Angeles, including the Eaton Fire and the Sunset Fire, which remain at zero percent containment.

While relief has come with the knowledge that her home is intact, Verma-Lallian remains uncertain about when she can return, with neighbors estimating it could take up to a week. She praised the resilience of her community, saying, “Even people who lost their homes have gone out of their way to help others.”
