Marvel Rivals Season 1 update with new heroes, maps, and rewards releases today
Marvel fans and gamers are eagerly anticipating the launch of fresh content for a game that debuted just a month ago.
On Friday, a new update featuring additional characters, maps, and rewards will be released for Marvel Rivals, a third-person hero shooter where players can take on the roles of iconic Marvel superheroes and villains. The update is titled Season 1: Eternal Night Falls.
Launched in December, Marvel Rivals has quickly gained popularity in the gaming world. The game's official Discord server has surpassed 2.2 million members, making it the largest gaming community on the platform, according to a Marvel press release.
As players gear up for the weekend, here’s what to know about the latest *Marvel Rivals* content.
Marvel Rivals is a free-to-play, third-person hero shooter where teams of two compete in various challenges set within the Marvel Universe. Gamers can choose from a roster of over 30 superheroes and villains, including Captain America, Spider-Man, Groot, Venom, Thor, and Wolverine.
The game was developed by Marvel Games in collaboration with the Chinese studio NetEase Games and launched in December.
Some gaming experts draw comparisons between Marvel Rivals and Overwatch, a free-to-play first-person hero shooter. Both games feature team-based gameplay, but Marvel Rivals takes place 60 years into the future of a fictionalized Earth. Overwatch was developed by Blizzard, known for World of Warcraft, and released in 2016.
Marvel Rivals can be accessed on PC via Steam, Epic Games Store, and its official website, as well as on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series S and X.
The Season 1: Eternal Night Falls update for Marvel Rivals will be available globally starting at midnight on Friday, Jan. 10.
