The iconic Hollywood sign faces significant risk as uncontrollable wildfires continue to devastate Los Angeles. The Sunset Fire, which erupted in the Hollywood Hills, has endangered landmarks such as the Walk of Fame and Hollywood Bowl. Evacuation orders have been issued for the Hollywood Bowl, with staff safely evacuated, according to an official post on X.

While the Sunset Fire has drawn attention to its proximity to showbiz landmarks, social media has complicated the narrative. Images and videos claiming to show the Hollywood sign in flames have gone viral, though some have been identified as AI-generated, adding confusion to an already dire situation.

Meanwhile, the broader wildfire crisis in Los Angeles County remains severe. Six fires are actively burning, including the Palisades blaze in the west, the Eaton Fire in the east, and the Sunset Fire in the Hollywood Hills, all listed as "0% controlled." Over 100,000 residents have been ordered to evacuate as flames continue to spread rapidly.

The fires have also devastated Pacific Palisades, home to many celebrities. Paris Hilton shared her heartbreak on X after her Malibu beachfront mansion was destroyed, calling the experience "something no one should ever have to endure." Billy Crystal lost his long-time residence, while other stars, including Jamie Lee Curtis, Mandy Moore, and Mark Hamill, have also been forced to evacuate.

Actor Richard Armitage, known for The Hobbit, urged the public to focus on the safety of those affected by the Palisades blaze rather than landmarks.

Despite the tireless efforts of firefighters, Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass described the crisis as a “firestorm.” Officials continue to warn residents to follow evacuation orders, stay updated, and prioritize safety over possessions. Resources for displaced residents are available through local emergency services.
