Traffic rerouted as Karachi's key road shut temporarily

Drivers advised to plan ahead to avoid congestion.

Aiwan-e-Sadr Road in Karachi will remain closed from noon to 6 pm today due to security measures, traffic police confirmed.

The road will be shut in both directions from Fawara Chowk to Khajoor Chowk, Express News reported.

Alternate routes have been provided to ensure minimal disruption.

Commuters travelling from Sharae Faisal to I.I. Chundrigar Road are advised to use Din Muhammad Wafai Road via Fawara Chowk or proceed from M.R. Kiyani Chowk towards Shaheen Complex.

For traffic heading from I.I. Chundrigar Road to Sharae Faisal or Saddar, routes via Shaheen Chowk to M.R. Kiyani Chowk or Fawara Chowk to Sarwar Shaheed Road are recommended.

No vehicles will be allowed onto Aiwan-e-Sadr Road from M.R. Kiyani Chowk, according to the traffic police. Authorities have urged commuters to plan their journeys accordingly.

Meanwhile, a water tanker crushed and killed two people riding a motorcycle near Naval Colony on the Baldia Hub River Road.

The driver of the tanker escaped from the scene.

Rescue workers reached the scene and shifted the bodies of the deceased to Civil Hospital for medico-legal formality.

Rescue officials said that the deceased were identified as 44-year-old Jamil and 30-year-old Muhammad Akbar.
