The Rawalpindi police have tightened security at all police stations and posts in the wake of the Faisalabad incident where three brothers were shot dead inside the lockup.
According to a police spokesperson, the special superintendent of police (SSP operations) has issued a formal directive to the divisional SPsSP Rawal, SP Potohar, and SP Saddarurging them to ensure foolproof security arrangements.
The directive emphasised that, given the current national security situation, strict adherence to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) is essential, particularly in and around lockups.
Armed personnel must be deployed at the gates and on the rooftops of all police stations and posts.
Visitors entering the premises are to be thoroughly checked, and their details registered before being directed to the duty officer or front desk.
The SSP has further instructed that armed constables maintain round-the-clock surveillance of lockups, ensuring that no unauthorised individuals approach the area.
Additionally, unnecessary meetings with detainees are strictly prohibited.
The notice underscored that all these security measures must be implemented without exception to prevent any untoward incidents.
