Abductors blackmail trader
A businessman in Rawalpindi's Rawat area was abducted, tortured and blackmailed by kidnappers who threatened to release explicit videos of him. The kidnappers not only stole cash and an expensive watch but also forced the victim to sign cheques for additional funds.
According to the police, the victim, a property dealer, reported that he was sitting with Saqib and others at a hotel when Saqib suggested they go to Mankiala for a meeting. On the way, Saqib and Umar Kiyani, along with others, pulled out pistols, demanding cash and valuables.
They stole Rs150,000 in cash and a watch worth Rs500,000, then forced the victim into a room where four other men were waiting. The kidnappers tortured him and demanded Rs10 million. After some negotiation, the amount was reduced to Rs7 million.
The victim was then stripped, and explicit videos were recorded. The kidnappers threatened to make the videos public if he did not meet their demands. They also made him sign three cheques and thumbprint blank papers as a guarantee for more payments.
After blindfolding him, the kidnappers abandoned him on the GT Road along with his car. Once freed, the victim remained silent out of fear, but the kidnappers continued to threaten him, demanding an additional Rs6.5 million. The police have confirmed that the victim, a property dealer, has filed a case and an investigation is ongoing.
