K-P govt to digitize transport services
Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Transport Department and Information Technology Board signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on Wednesday regarding the digitization of Transport Department including issuance of driving licenses.
Talking on the occasion, Special Assistant to the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister on Transport, Haji Rangeez Ahmed said that the department is being completely digitized and it would be developed on modern lines.
He voiced hope that this digitization will prove to be a milestone in revenue generation of the province.
On this occasion, MoU signing ceremony was held in Hayatabad. The ceremony was attended by Special Assistant on Science, Technology and Information Technology, Shafqat Ayaz, secretary transport, MD KPIT Board, director transport and other senior officials.
Before the MoU signing ceremony a meeting was held where MD KPIT Board provided briefing on the digitization of the Transport Department. He informed the meeting that digitization of the department will be completed in one year and six months, while the driving license will be digitized in four months.
The meeting was informed that the mobile application, "'Dastak', will be used to obtain the driving licence online.
On this occasion, Rangeez Ahmed said that the digitization of driving licence will ease the licensing process, while this system will also eliminate the role of the middle man. He said that digitization will also eliminate issues like fake licensing and fake medical certification.
He said that special concessions will be given to overseas Pakistanis in the digitization of driving licences.
