Meghan Markle's dog Guy passes away, duchess pays tribute with unseen family photos
Meghan Markle shared the heartbreaking news on Instagram that her beloved dog Guy, a beagle she adopted in 2015, has passed away. The Duchess of Sussex’s tribute included never-before-seen photos of Guy with her, Prince Harry, and their children, Lilibet and Archie.
“He was with me at Suits, when I got engaged, (and then married), when I became a mom…he was with me for everything: the quiet, the chaos, the calm, the comfort,” Meghan wrote in a deeply emotional caption.
Guy, who Meghan rescued from a Kentucky kill shelter before he was set to be euthanized, became a cherished part of her life. Meghan fondly recalled naming him after shelter staff referred to him as “the little guy” and shared how he overcame a devastating accident before she moved to the UK. Despite being told he would never walk again, a team of vets, including Dr. Noel Fitzpatrick, helped him recover.
The Duchess expressed immense gratitude to the veterinary teams and her community who cared for Guy over the years. She also reflected on the immense grief his passing has brought.
“I have cried too many tears to count—the type of tears that make you get in the shower with the absurd hope that the running water on your face will somehow make you not feel them,” she wrote.
Guy will also appear in Meghan’s upcoming Netflix series With Love, Meghan, where she hopes viewers will come to understand why his loss is so devastating.
