The Wayne County Prosecutor’s Office has denied a warrant request from the Detroit Police Department concerning assault allegations made by Nicki Minaj's former manager, Brandon Garrett.
A spokesperson for the Prosecutor’s Office confirmed to TMZ that the request was rejected due to "insufficient evidence" of a crime. However, they have directed the police to conduct further investigation into the matter.
Garrett, who previously managed Minaj, filed a civil lawsuit claiming the rapper assaulted him while on tour in Detroit in April 2024. According to Garrett, the alleged incident stemmed from a dispute over Minaj’s personal prescriptions. He claims the star “flew into a rage,” hit him in the face, and slapped his wrist, even threatening his life.
Minaj’s legal team has categorically denied the allegations, calling the lawsuit “completely false and frivolous.”
While the rapper remains safe from arrest presently, the Prosecutor’s Office’s demand for further investigation leaves the door open for potential future action depending on what additional evidence police may uncover.
