Ongoing tribal clashes leave two more dead
Tribal clash claimed two more lives near village Kalhora Kot Mir Muhammad on Monday in district Khairpur, police said.
According to details, armed men of Narejo tribe opened fire, killing Yameen Solangi and Sanaullah Solangi, who were herding goats at a field in the village.
Police reached the spot and shifted the bodies to Pir Jo Goth Hospital and later handed over to heirs.
It may be mentioned that during the last two weeks, clashes between Solangi and Narejo tribes have left eight people dead and two injured. Following the Monday's clash, more bloodshed is feared in the region.
Meanwhile, the Khairpur district police killed a notorious bandit and arrested 119 others, including 18 in injured condition, in 39 police encounters and operations, during the last two months. The police also succeeded in getting five kidnapped persons released.
According to a police report, a gang of 30 robbers involved in various crimes, including robbery, theft, and kidnapping for ransom, was arrested. This group included notorious gangs involved in highway robberies, as well as motorcycle and car thefts.
A large amount of stolen goods and weapons were recovered. Stolen and snatched goods were returned to their rightful owners.
Khairpur police also apprehended a gang of criminals involved in motorcycle theft and recovered 88 stolen motorcycles, Rs30 lakh in cash and mobile phones from them.
A major crackdown was also conducted against social crimes, with police raids leading to the arrest of 44 gamblers and 187 drug dealers. In these operations, 54.9kg of hashish, 80.26kg of bhang, 55,860 betel nuts, 750 kg of high-quality chili powder, 346 cigarette cartons, 105 bottles of alcohol, and 25 litres of moonshine were seized.
In addition to this, 21 buffaloes, one loader rickshaw, four cars, five tractors, 12 solar panels, and four batteries were also recovered.
