KARACHI:

The funeral prayers of 8-year-old Ibad Asad, who died after falling into an open manhole in Shah Faisal Colony, were offered at Punjab Ground on Monday.

Family members, relatives and people from the neighbourhood, Jamaat-e-Islami MPA, Muhammad Farooq and other officials attended the funeral prayer. Later, the deceased Ibad was laid to rest in graveyard near PIA Township.

Talking to the media after the funeral prayer, JI MPA strongly criticised the city mayor, held him responsible for the sad incident and demanded his immediate resignation. Pointing out the incompetence of the administration, he said that funds are not released to the UC chairmen.

The sewers are neither covered nor there is a proper sewage system in the town as a result a minor child lost his life.
