Hearing of May 9 cases adjourned till Jan 8
An Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) in Rawalpindi has adjourned hearings on the GHQ attack case and 13 other May 9-related cases involving Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leaders and workers to January 8.
The cases include charges against PTI's founding chairman, former foreign minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa chief minister Ali Amin Gandapur, 35 other central PTI leaders, and 480 workers.
The adjournment occurred as the judge was attending a one-day training session at the Judicial Academy in Lahore, leaving the court unable to proceed with the scheduled hearings.
The court announced that the GHQ attack case would be heard at the Adiala Jail courtroom, while the remaining 13 cases would continue at the District Courts complex.
In the GHQ attack case, the court issued a notice to the SHO of RA Bazaar police atation, instructing the production of government witnesses for the next hearing. Witness statements are expected to be recorded during the proceedings.
Shah Mahmood Qureshi, currently detained at Lahore's Kot Lakhpat Jail, has also been summoned to appear at the Adiala Jail courtroom on January 8.
