According to the report, PHC dealt with 336 cases of missing persons in the year 2024. Out of 58 complaints regarding individuals going missing from the province, 38 are against security agencies and 13 are against local police.
The relatives of the missing persons have filed seven petitions against the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) of police.
In December last year, PHC decided the petitions of 12 missing persons. According to the report, the cases of 58 missing persons are currently pending in the court.
Among them, the PHC has sought response from the institutions concerned. Additionally, an implementation cell was established to ensure submission of reply in the PHC verdicts, which is responsible for monitoring and timely submission of replies in all cases.
It should be noted here that PHC Chief Justice Ishtiaq Ibrahim, after taking the oath, made it clear to all the relevant institutions that timely response should be ensured in the cases of missing persons to reduce the suffering of their families.
In this regard, PHC had taken a strict stand and summoned the chief minister as well in various cases.
