City braces for cold snap
The city is expected to experience strong and cold Siberian winds on Saturday, the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) said in a weather alert on Friday.
Chief Meteorologist Sardar Sarfraz said that temperature in Karachi could drop to a single digit low of six degree Celsius, with the cold spell lasting for about a week.
He attributed the drop in temperatures to a high-pressure system building in the north, which is pushing cold air mass southward.
Citizens are urged to take necessary precautions to stay safe and warm as the cold wave approaches the city. Homeless and substance abuse victims sleeping on footpaths remain vulnerable to cold temperatures. Similarly, elderly people living alone were at fatal risk of cold related ailments.
