KARACHI:

he Immigration Wing of the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) arrested an Afghan national man and a woman for attempting to travel abroad using forged documents at the Jinnah International Terminal on Thursday morning.

An FIA spokesperson identified the arrested man as Ahmed Muhammad Akhtar, and the woman as Iman. Akhtar, who entered Pakistan via the Chaman border on Nov 3, 2024, purportedly for medical treatment, was found to have obtained a Pakistani visa through forgery.

When questioned by Immigration officials, Akhtar failed to provide evidence of his medical treatment. Officials revealed that Akhtar had earlier flown to Kuwait with similar claims and was advised by a friend to apply for a Pakistani medical visa. Fake documents were used in the visa application process.

In a separate operation, a woman named Iman attempting to travel to Saudi Arabia on the pretext of performing Umrah was also taken into custody.
