Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah has strongly condemned the acts of violence during recent sit-ins in the city, where several vehicles and motorcycles were set ablaze.
In a statement released through an official spokesperson, the Chief Minister expressed grave concern over the incidents and vowed to hold those responsible accountable.
“Damaging public and private property will not be tolerated under any circumstances,” said Shah.
“Everyone has the right to protest, but causing harm to public assets in this manner is an act of provocation. Legal action will be taken against those involved in torching vehicles.”
The Chief Minister also highlighted that the provincial government had designated specific platforms for holding protests to ensure public safety. “Such acts of vandalism are unacceptable, and those who engage in them will face strict consequences,” he added.
He directed Additional Inspector General (AIG) of Police to immediately restore order in the city and submit a comprehensive report on the situation. “End the chaos in the city and report back with progress,” Shah instructed.
The violence erupted during a protest staged by the Majlis Wahdat-e-Muslimeen (MWM) at Numaish Chowrangi. Protesters reportedly clashed with police, pelting stones, setting six motorcycles and a police check post on fire, and injuring multiple officers.
The injured police personnel were rushed to Civil Hospital for treatment. In response, law enforcement fired tear gas shells and baton-charged the protesters gathered at M.A. Jinnah Road.
Several individuals were detained as authorities worked to disperse the crowd and investigate the incidents.
The Sindh government reiterated its commitment to maintaining peace and protecting public property, urging calm and cooperation as efforts to control the situation continue.
Tensions remain high in the area, with law enforcement on alert to prevent further unrest.
