Man remanded over Rangers deaths

ISLAMABAD:

A court has remanded a man—accused of running his car over some Rangers personnel during a PTI protest—to judicial custody.

Police on Monday presented the accused, Hashim Abbasi, in the court of a duty magistrate, Hafeez Muhammad, on completion of his remand period. The investigation officer told the judge that the accused was no longer wanted for investigation and could be sent to jail.

The magistrate accepted the request and sent Abbasi to jail. At least three soldiers of paramilitary rangers were killed when a vehicle allegedly driven by Hashim Abbasi ran them over on Srinagar Highway in Islamabad on November 26 during a PTI's protest.
