Punjab Assembly Speaker Malik Muhammad Ahmad Khan has stressed the importance of dialogue for resolving political issues.
Speaking to the media while attending the wedding reception of a nephew of Punjab Chief Minister's Coordination Secretary Rana Aamir Karim Khan, he criticized what he termed a growing trend of treating criminal acts as a political right.
He said acts like arson, vandalism and destruction of property could not be justified under any circumstances.
The speaker stressed the need for negotiations, elaborating that dialogue was essential in politics.
Responding to a question, he referred to the May 9 incidents as a "dark stain on Pakistan's history" and called for the formation of a judicial commission to investigate the matter.
"Those responsible must be brought to justice," the speaker of the Punjab Assembly added.
