National Ranking Championship begins

More than 200 players to compete for the coveted trophy

The Pakistan Tennis Federation (PTF) is delighted to announce the commencement of the 10th Begum Kulsum Saifullah Khan National Ranking Tennis Championships 2024, held at the PTF-SDA Tennis Complex, Islamabad from 29th Dec-2024 to 5th January, 2025.

This prestigious tournament is organized annually to honour the memory of the late Begum Kulsum Saifullah Khan, mother of PTF Patron Senator Salim Saifullah Khan.

Speaking about the event, Senator Salim Saifullah Khan expressed his deep emotional connection to the tournament, stating that it refreshes cherished memories of his late mother. He also extended his best wishes to all participants. The Saif Group of Companies sponsors the event.

Mr. Aisam-ul-Haq Qureshi, President-PTF, and Col. Zia-ud-din Tufail, Secretary-General-PTF, conveyed their best wishes to all players participating in this event.

A large number of players, including Pakistan's top-ranked athletes such as Aqeel Khan, Muhammad Shoaib, Muzammil Murtaza, Muhammad Abid, Barkatullah, Shahzad Khan, Yousaf Khalil, Heera Ashiq, Meheq Khokhar, Amna Ali Qayum, Sheeza Sajid, and Soha Ali, are competing in this mega event.

More than 200 entries from all over Pakistan have been received for competitions in six different categories:

men's singles, men's doubles, ladies singles, boys' 18 & under singles, boys' 14 & under singles, boys' 12 & under singles

The main draw matches will start on Tuesday 31st December, 2024.

Meanwhile, The Gun and Country Club inaugurated its Open Tennis Championship, featuring over 60 players competing in exciting events for: men's singles, ladies singles; Singles, Boys U18, and senior 45 doubles.

The championship was formally inaugurated by Mr. Imran Afraz Khan, Secretary of the Gun Club, Hussain Mahmood has been appointed as the Referee, while Mr. Nauman Afzal will serve as the Tournament Director.

Mr. Tariq Murtaza, Chairman of the ITA, praised the efforts of the Gun Club and expressed his optimism for the tournament's success. He emphasized the importance of promoting tennis in the region.
