Festival showcases Kashmir's timeless traditions

Two-day event aims to promote peace, unity and solidarity.

The "Kashmir Jannat Nazir Festival" began on Friday at Islamabad Model College for Girls, F-8/1, drawing a diverse audience to celebrate Kashmir's vibrant cultural heritage and natural beauty.

The two-day festival aims to promote peace, unity, and solidarity while showcasing the region's timeless traditions and artistic excellence.

The inaugural session was attended by Federal Minister for Kashmir Affairs & Gilgit-Baltistan Engr Amir Muqam.

Other guests included former minister for religious affairs Raja Zafarul Haq, Parliamentary Secretary for the Ministry of Federal Education & Professional Training Farah Naz Akbar, Member of the National Assembly Anjum Aqeel Khan, and Hurriyat leaders among others.

In his address, Engr Amir Muqam praised the initiative for highlighting the rich cultural legacy of Kashmir and its role in promoting peace and understanding.

He remarked, "Kashmir is not just a region of unparalleled beauty; it is also a beacon of cultural richness and resilience. Events like this serve as a reminder of our shared heritage and the importance of promoting harmony through cultural expression."

Speaking on the occasion, Mohyuddin Ahmad Wani emphasised the role of cultural festivals in bridging divides and promoting unity.
