Wedding crasher family arrested
Uninvited guests remain a bane for hosts but worst are those who enter the parties to pick pockets or steal from purses and handbags left unattended by ladies too busy with ceremonies, gossip or simply controlling children.
Police claimed to have arrested a man who, along with his wife and daughters, stole from wallets and handbags of guests at wedding ceremonies in North Nazimabad.
Shahrah Noor Jahan police recovered stolen wallets and wedding money gift envelopes from Rashid Ghani's possession.
According to SHO Abid Shah, they had received complaints about thefts at North Nazimadaad wedding halls.
Police used CCTV footage to identify the suspect who was arrested from a wedding hall.
Ghani's wife and daughters were also involved in the thefts, SHO Shah said.
He said the suspects used to join wedding guests, creating distractions to steal purses containing wedding envelopes. The accused would then move on to another wedding hall to commit another offence.
Ghani, a resident of Nazimabad No4, claimed he worked as a tailor and electrician but turned out to be a criminal due to unemployment. The stolen purses contained mobile phones, cash, and jewellery.
The police registered a case and handed it over to the investigation team for further probe.
