Chet Hanks trolled over new accent in Instagram video
Chet Hanks, the 34-year-old son of actor Tom Hanks and singer Rita Wilson, has come under fire online after debuting a new accent in a recent Instagram video.
While walking through the snow-covered streets of New York City, Hanks used a distinctive, New York-inspired accent. "It’s mad brick out here, B," he says, referring to the cold weather. He then adds, "Word to my muvva, I’m bricked up," before uttering other phrases that left many viewers confused.
The video, shared by the Hollywood Unlocked Instagram account, quickly went viral, and people in the comments section wasted no time mocking Hanks for his attempt at a New York accent. One user commented, “Sound like an undercover cop,” while another humorously noted, “He’s a good actor like his daddy.” Others expressed disbelief at his behavior, with one saying, “I know Tom wakes up every day amazed and flabbergasted that this is his child.” There was also a wave of criticism from New Yorkers, with one person writing, “I hate when non-New Yorkers use the accent, it be losing me.”
