ISLAMABAD:

Defending the May 9 convictions by the military courts, Federal Minister for Information Atta Tarar on Wednesday asserted that cases involving attacks on military installations would be tried exclusively in military courts.

He urged PTI to avoid muddying the waters by politicizing the issue.

Addressing a press conference in Islamabad, Tarar accused the former ruling party of exploiting the subject of military courts to fuel controversy as it seeks to challenge the convictions as "unconstitutional" in courts.

The minister clarified that military court trials were strictly limited to cases involving assaults on defence establishments.
