KARACHI:

Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) is planning to expand its network to Europe and the United Kingdom following the lifting of a ban imposed by the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA).

According to a PIA spokesperson, with the expansion of its network and potential resumption of flights to the UK and Europe, the national air carrier is in the process of rejuvenating its aircraft that had been in storage for a long time, bringing them back into operational fleet.

As per a plan laid down by the management, the operational fleet of Boeing 777 will reach eight aircraft. Similarly, the management has planned to increase the number of A-320 aircraft to 12 and ATR planes to two.

"This fleet requirement is in line with the aggressive operational plan that PIA has set for itself for the year 2025," the airline official said.

He added that PIA was making all-out efforts to enhance its network while being fully viable to serve the route in demand and bring convenience to the large Pakistani diaspora residing abroad.

"Due to these efforts, PIA is now maintaining a noteworthy schedule reliability and on-time performance exceeding 90%, the highest in the country," the spokesperson concluded.
