Kim Richards undergoes mental health evaluation after police respond to missing cat call
Reality TV star Kim Richards, 60, was reportedly visited by local authorities on Sunday after making an unusual call to the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) regarding her missing cat.
According to TMZ, the former 'Real Housewives of Beverly Hills' star had called police to report that someone had taken her cat but later returned it.
When LAPD officers arrived at the home owned by her sister, Kyle Richards, they listened to Kim's account of the incident. However, the situation took an unexpected turn when Kim began discussing personal issues with her sister Kyle, reportedly going off on a long tangent. Due to her erratic behavior, the officers decided to call in a mental health evaluation team.
Sources close to the incident told TMZ that the evaluation team determined Richards did not meet the criteria for an involuntary hold, as she did not pose a threat to herself or others. Paramedics were also dispatched but left shortly after concluding that no medical transport was needed.
At the time, Kyle Richards, a prominent figure on 'Real Housewives of Beverly Hills,' was reportedly in Aspen, Colorado, with her ex-husband Mauricio Umansky and their children, spending the holidays together. Police did not take further action regarding Kim’s complaint about her cat and eventually left the scene after their evaluation.
This incident follows a similar situation from September, when Kim Richards was placed on a psychiatric hold after LAPD officers responded to another call. At that time, she was found incoherent at the Hilton Hotel in Los Angeles and was detained on an involuntary 5150 hold for psychiatric evaluation. Earlier in the year, Richards also faced concerns from her family regarding her sobriety and had a tense encounter with her sister, Kyle, at another home owned by Kyle.
Richards’ struggles with addiction have been well-documented, especially during her time on 'Real Housewives of Beverly Hills.' Her journey through rehab and recovery has been a significant part of her public narrative, with past incidents of relapse and hospitalization drawing attention from fans and the media.
