Electrocution victim's parents win case
Six years on, justice was served in the case pertaining to the death of a seven-year-old child who had died due to electrocution from snapped wires of an electric pole on August 23, 2016.
Senior Civil Judge East district Ambreen Jamal on Tuesday ordered K-Electric to pay Rs4.8 million as compensation to the Azhan Sidiqui's family. Azhan's parents, Khaliquddin and Uzma Khaliq, had demanded damages worth Rs14,500,000.
The court of Senior Civil Judge East decided the claim after six years. Judge Ambreen Jamal issued a degree against K-Electric officials. The court ordered K-Electric to pay Rs4819000 as compensation to the family.
Usman Farooq Advocate had taken the position that the minor died during rains in 2017. A petition seeking compensation was filed against K-Electric. K-Electric's negligence in the incident is clear. K-Electric has failed to install guard wires.
A KE spokesperson said, "It will be premature to comment as the company has not received the judgment yet."
In her 25-page judgment, the learned judge mentioned that live snapped wires were lying unattended from an electric pole on a street in Malir, Model Colony.
